Weight Loss After 7 Days on Berberine

When I stopped taking Ozempic, information about Berberine started popping up in my YouTube feed and in podcasts I listened to. I researched it–and decided to order it on Amazon. I took it the same day it arrived, and I'm excited to share my experience with you!

Here is some important information you should know in order to better understand the summary of my first 7 days on Berberine:

--Each pill contains 1000mg of Berberine.

--My standard fasting regimen is 18:6. This means I fast for 18 hours and eat two times per day in a 6 hour window, at 12:00pm and 5:00pm. There is no snacking or grazing.

--I sometimes practice OMAD, which means One Meal a Day.

--I typically do at least one extended fast per week for either a 36 or 42 hours. I don’t take Berberine on these days because I can’t handle it on an empty stomach.

THE FIRST 7 DAYS:

Day 1 | Morning Weight: 249.4 | I ate two meals, had a morning workout and took the Berberine with my evening meal at 5:00pm.

Average blood sugar reading was 98.

Day 2 | Morning Weight: 250.0 | I started an extended fast, so I didn’t eat any food. I took some Berberine in the evening with some warm heavy cream, hoping it would coat my stomach. I was wrong. I felt extremely nauseated, and decided I would only take Berberine with food. In order to feel better, I broke my fast and ate some cottage cheese. Later that night, I had problems falling asleep and staying asleep. I’m not sure if Berberine has some stimulant properties, but I decided I would avoid taking it in the evening.

Average blood sugar reading was 95 which included, 78, one of my lowest blood sugar readings since I started eating Keto.

Day 3 | Morning Weight: 250.0 | I took Berberine in the afternoon with my only meal of the day. I felt like I had more energy, and was inspired to take an evening walk with my daughter.

Average blood sugar reading was 109.

Day 4 | Morning Weight: 254.2 | I fasted all day and did not take Berberine. I noticed I was peeing quite a lot, and thought I might be expelling some extra fluid I was retaining.

Average blood sugar reading was 93.

Day 5 | Morning Weight: 249.2 | I fasted all day and did not take Berberine.

Average blood sugar reading was 90.

Day 6 | Morning Weight: 246.2 | I ate two meals and took Berberine in the afternoon.

Average blood sugar reading was 95.

Day 7 | Morning Weight: 245.6 | I ate one meal and took Berberine with my first meal of the day. I took an afternoon stroll and kicked a ball around at the park with my daughter.

Average blood sugar reading was 97.

I was shocked by this week's weight loss–nearly 4.5 lbs. I also had a goal of getting into the 240's by my birthday--because I'd recently spent a few weeks in a plateau, bouncing around in the 250's.

The normal blood sugar levels for someone on the ketogenic diet is 70 to 90. While I eat low carb, I think my body still has sugar stored in my liver (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease) which keeps my average blood sugar ranges higher than normal. I expect this to improve with time.

Overall, my blood sugar levels were lower this week than in the past. I have never been diabetic, but I started taking Ozempic when I found out I was pre-diabetic. That's when I got curious about monitoring my blood sugar.

I think Berberine is worth considering, especially if you don’t have access to Ozempic. I will continue to update you on my progress with Berberine for 7 weeks. Thank you for spending the last 3 minutes with me.
